483Belize has emerged as a key advocate for the Tren Maya project, positioning the tourist centric country as the crucial link between Mexico and Guatemala. “We need to continue to make the point that Belize is the link for Mexico and Guatemala,” said Prime Minister John Briceno of Belize.
To be delivered in stages, the proposed expansion plans announced on January 29 follow discussions with President of Guatemala Bernardo Arévalo, and Belize’s Prime Minister John Briceño, who originally requested the extension.
